Hunters Point On Fire

Hunters Point Naval Shipyard has been closed since 1974. The Shipyard in situated in the Southeast Section of San Francisco in Califiornia. The United States Navy polluted the Shipyard with radiological elements and other very toxic materials. Atomic bombs were built at Hunters Point Shipyard. Ships that took part in Atomic Bomb experiments at Bikini Islands were brought to Hunters Point Shipyard to be sandblasted and revamped. Various toxic experiments were carried on by the Navy and the Navy has the obligation to clean up the shipyard. One of the atomic bombs was transported from Hunters Point to a remote location and later was dropped on Japan.

Hunters Point Shipyard demands mitigation to people that have suffered all over the world because of actions that took place at Hunters Point Naval Shipyard

Recently the Navy under great pressure from Senator Diane Feinstein and Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi conveyed Parcel A which is not clean to the City and County of San Francisco. Mayor Gavin Newsom accept the toxic parcel for development. Lennar BVHP LLC a dubious land developer with a history of building homes on toxic land - is planning to build 1600 homes on Parcel A. It is wrong to build 1600 homes in the middle of Chernobyl.

From time to time this blog will reveal facts about Hunters Point Naval Shipyard.

We already have a film named Hunters Point On Fire. This refers to the methane gas which is flowing in certain areas in large quantities and which flare up from time to time. In August of 2000 there was a large flare up - the methane caused fire was burning for 3 weeks and adversely impacted thousands of people. The City and County of San Francisco, the San Francisco Health Department, and other State and Federal Agencies did nothing much to mitigate this unhealthy situation. To date there are no health and safety protocols in place.
